BK 21 — Hidden Workers

Phase 3 — Community & Identity

A breaking scene is sustained by more than the people we see competing. Behind every jam, battle, workshop, and community session are people whose work often happens away from the spotlight.

Organizers secure venues, DJs prepare the music, filmmakers preserve moments, designers communicate events, volunteers manage the space, and mentors guide younger generations. Their contributions may receive less attention than a winning round, but without them, many opportunities would not exist.

Recognizing hidden workers means more than thanking them after an event. It means respecting their time, valuing their skills, sharing credit, and offering support when possible. Culture survives because people choose to care for it.

Reflection: Who can you recognize today for helping keep your scene alive?
