BREAKING KNOWLEDGE
BREAKING KNOWLEDGE
Breaking Knowledge is an ongoing body of reflections built from years of experiencing breaking, Hip-Hop and the communities around them.
It began with simple questions about the culture.
What is respect?
What is a cypher?
What does it mean to train?
What makes something original?
But the deeper the project went, the wider the questions became.
Breaking opened conversations about discipline, identity, community, responsibility, authenticity, access, systems, culture and the way we understand our place within them.
That is where Breaking Knowledge continues to grow.
Each BK introduces one subject through a short audiovisual piece. On this archive, those ideas can be explored further through their individual entries, allowing more context, reflection and connections between different chapters.
The project is organized in phases because knowledge does not arrive all at once.
One idea creates the foundation for another.
The early chapters stay close to breaking and its fundamentals. As the phases develop, the perspective gradually expands into Hip-Hop, culture and broader questions about society and the systems surrounding us.
Breaking Knowledge is not intended to provide definitive answers.
It documents a perspective developed through experience.
A way of questioning what we practice, what we inherit, what we contribute and what we eventually pass forward.
Breaking is where the conversation started.
Knowledge is where it continues.
