The Origins

Before The Inspirational Scope became a space for documenting people, places and communities, it started much closer to home. These first pieces came from my own relationship with breaking and Hip-Hop, the people around me, the footage I had accumulated and the experiences that made me want to start documenting what I was living. There was no finished structure yet. These films were part of the process of discovering one. I used my own journey as the starting point, experimenting with images, archives, movement and storytelling while trying to understand what The Inspirational Scope could become. Over time, the camera started moving away from myself and towards the stories around me. What began through breaking eventually opened the door to people, places, communities and cultures far beyond it. These are the origins of The Inspirational Scope.
